Landmaschinen müssen zudem möglichst effizient und präzise arbeiten, um Ernteerträge zu maximieren. Mobile Robotikkonzepte können maßgeblich dazu beitragen, beide Ziele zu erreichen. Ideen und Ansätze für die mobile Robotik oder Maschinenschwärme auf landwirtschaftlich genutzten Flächen gibt es seit vielen Jahren. Häufig handelt es sich hierbei um vollautonome Konzepte. Diese stellen höchste Anforderungen an die funktionale Sicherheit der Maschinen. Die Unversehrtheit von Menschen, anderen Lebewesen und Objekten in der Umgebung der autonomen mobilen Geräte muss jederzeit gewährleistet sein. Die Spezialisten für die funktional sichere Automatisierung von STW aus Kaufbeuren setzen vor allem auf umsetzungsfreundlichere Konzepte. Ein von einem Operator überwachter Leitstand steuert eine Vielzahl von Maschinen, die vollautomatisiert die Feldarbeit übernehmen – etwa das Düngen oder die Feldpflege. Im Zweifelsfall kann der Mensch jedoch eingreifen und eine Notsituation bewerten und vermeiden. Durch diesen Ansatz können viele Hürden vollautonomer Konzepte abgebaut werden, die Vorteile hinsichtlich Effizienz und Nachhaltigkeit bleiben jedoch bestehen. Im Vergleich zum herkömmlichen Landmaschineneinsatz kann sich der Operator in diesem Leitstandkonzept voll und ganz auf die Überwachung des Prozesses konzentrieren. Ermüdung wird vorgebeugt und die Gesundheit geschont. Der Einsatz vieler kleinerer Roboter ist zudem vorteilhaft für Boden und Umwelt, da die Erdverdichtung und Emissionen im Vergleich zu Großmaschinen deutlich reduziert werden. Zudem wird der Personalaufwand niedrig gehalten, eine Person kann mehrere Maschinen gleichzeitig überwachen. Ein großes Plus für diese Konzepte, angesichts des immer stärkeren Fachkräftemangels. Wie ein solches Konzept in der Praxis aussehen kann, hat STW jüngst auf der GaLaBau-Messe Demopark gemeinsam mit dem Hochgrasmäher-Hersteller AS-Motor und dem Fraunhofer IVI präsentiert. Ein Leitstand überwachte drei vollautonom arbeitende Mähroboter, die koordiniert die Grünflächenpflege eines vordefinierten Feldes erledigten.
